What art collectors should look for ... I am concerned with questions that are important for each collection.

Collecting art is undoubtedly a great passion. In contrast to museums, gallery owners and merchants, private collectors enjoy the privilege of amateurs - an often misunderstood term derived from the Latin 'amator', the 'lover'.

In contrast to the professional, the amateur collector does not always know everything. An amateur may not need to justify a decision to themselves, but with a lack of knowledge they struggle to justify decisions – in a coherent – manner to everyone else.

While on the other side of the coin, professional collectors mostly buy from only established artists, whereas private collectors often find ways to support young, up - and - coming artists and talents.

Such passion takes time to manifest itself and time is scarce.

This is why many art collectors have short knowledge of topics that are important to the vitality of a collection, instead only focusing on the actual artwork at hand.

The range of topics is huge, ranging from very practical questions such as the correct preservation, archiving or insurance, the best framing, and the safe transportation of art to more complex topics, such as donations, inheritance or foundations.

As a post Internet artist I would like to ask these questions and find answers.
