Infamous dictator Fidel Castro, after many attempts on his life by the CIA, passed away last month leaving behind a legacy of revolution and corruption.

My painting 'Countdown To Phallus Decay' is for anti-Trump art collectors who realise that narcissistic egos in political power only serve to divide people in their own image.

Discover why Fidel Castro is the focal point of this modern update of post Internet art.

COUNTDOWN TO PHALLUS DECAY PAINTING CHECKLIST

  • Fidel Castro was a man who took on the persona of revolutionary to dictator over his lifetime.
  • Castro's egotistic profile clashed with John F. Kennedy: history repeats itself with Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump.
  • We are living in society doomsday: as scientists bring forward the theoretical clock of human existence.

HOW DID FIDEL CASTRO TURN FROM HERO TO VILLAIN?

On 26th November 2016, after a year that showed the lasting power of right-wing egos in contemporary politics Fidel Castro finally succumbed to death by illness, after surviving countless assassination attempts.

But during more than half a century in office Castro metamorphosed from a popular and charismatic guerrilla leader into a traditional caudillo, an autocratic holdover from another age.

Essentially he transformed himself from hero to villain.

His branded slogan “socialism or death” represented the headstrong rebel turned statesman who swam with the current of history when it suited, but dared to fight it when it turned against him.

Even when the Obama administration held out an olive branch that would kick-start diplomatic relations between the two countries Castro only saw a fight.

As he wrote a scornful letter railing against the US President and saying Cuba needed nothing from its longtime enemy.

CASTRO'S DEATH REMINDS US THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED

After the triumphs of right-wing extremism that has led to a post-Brexit post-Trump world we are reminded that the same psychological egos that almost led us to a full blown nuclear war – Missile Crisis history – has resurfaced.

Different faces but the same faults of the egotistical male in positions of power

YOU'RE PART OF SOCIETY DOOMSDAY, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT

The Doomsday Clock has been moved closer to midnight, from three minutes to two and a half minutes.

The election of Donald Trump and wider geopolitical turbulence are so dangerous that the scientists behind the Doomsday Clock have pushed it forward to 2 minutes and 30 seconds before midnight.

The new “time” means experts at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists believe the earth is closer to imminent peril than at any point in the last 64 years.

The clock, an indicator of the world’s vulnerability to nuclear, environmental and political threats, and this has been played out by a society that has been seemingly willing to self-destruct.

  • From the Brexit vote that threatens to destabilise the unity of the western world.
  • The failure of nations to minimise the continued attacks of ISIS.
  • The tensions in Syria, Ukraine and Kashmir that has led to the use of chemical warfare.
  • And Donald Trump’s collision course with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un that is recreating the missile crisis of 1962.

All these realtime moments is making the world a more dangerous place than it was last year and they are all led by male egos.

A throwback to the legacy making revolution of Castro and the “bearded ones”.

PRESENTING 'COUNTDOWN TO PHALLUS DECAY': ORIGINAL PAINTING

Fidel Castro’s death reminds us that very little has changed in a male dominated world of political egos.

As the world edges closer to Doomsday we must ask ourselves who is to be held accountable in a society that has accepted right-wing extremism and fake-news as consumable entertainment.

This original painting symbolises the lost honour of men in a post-Trump world where political male egos deceive with Tweets of “revolution” in order to playout the dangerous sport of legacy building regimes.
